SUPERVISION Supervision
is a formal, professional, confidential, working relationship in which the
personal resources of the supervisor and supervisee are concentrated
towards aiming the competence of the supervisee in their job of helping
clients. The
purpose of supervision is:
Supervision
enables supervisees to find their own particular way of being a counsellor
or psychotherapist. It is not
counselling or psychotherapy, although it might touch on the exploration
of personal awareness and values in order to help with countertransference
issues. Supervision
is not teaching, although it does include a strong educational element to
assist the supervisee. However,
the teaching process is not a formal one, it emerges in response to the
supervisee's work. Evaluation
is an ongoing and crucial aspect of supervision and should include an
opportunity for the supervisee to give feedback on the experience of
supervision. |
